A luminous halo of natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise encircles the Royston centerpiece, each vivid blue cabochon acting like fragments of open sky framing the landscape below. Most people immediately notice the size of the center stone. I didn’t. I noticed the colors. It looks like the desert after rain—sage, sandstone, old mineral deposits, dry washes winding through the landscape.
