Some pieces announce themselves with a signature. Others earn your attention through decades of honest wear, beautifully matched stones, and craftsmanship that speaks for itself. This vintage Navajo squash blossom falls firmly into the second category. Featuring natural Blue Gem turquoise and a wonderfully uncommon series of open heart blossoms, it’s a necklace with quiet confidence and unmistakable presence.

Details

  • Vintage Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace
  • Unsigned
  • Approx. 26 inches long
  • Sterling Silver
  • Natural Blue Gem Turquoise
  • Handmade bench beads
  • Traditional hand-fabricated construction
  • Classic five-stone naja with matching turquoise
  • Distinctive open-heart blossom design
  • Beautiful natural vintage patina

Why We Love It

Blue Gem turquoise has long been prized for its vivid sky-blue color and has become increasingly difficult to find in older, untouched jewelry. Here, each cabochon was individually cut and set by hand, giving the necklace the subtle variations that collectors look for. Rather than relying on elaborate stampwork, the silversmith let clean lines, substantial silver, and exceptional stones do the talking.

The heart-shaped blossoms are an especially charming detail that set this necklace apart from the countless standard squash blossoms produced over the years. It’s a small design decision that gives the entire piece a personality all its own.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition with the rich patina expected from an authentic older Navajo piece. Minor age-appropriate wear consistent with careful ownership. Ready to wear or display.

Eric’s Note

I have a soft spot for unsigned masterpieces. Somewhere along the way, our hobby started chasing hallmarks instead of craftsmanship. But before artists became household names, they were simply incredible silversmiths making extraordinary jewelry for trading posts and local collectors.

This necklace reminds me of that era. The Blue Gem turquoise has aged beautifully, the silver has the kind of softness only time can create, and those little heart blossoms give it a character you don’t see every day. Sometimes the greatest treasure in the room is the one that doesn’t need to sign its name.
